Club History
Greenbelt FC’s story begins in the heart of the Greenbelt community, where a group of immigrant kids found common ground on the soccer fields between 2007 and 2009. These young athletes, united by their love of the game and shared experiences in high school, played together informally, building bonds that transcended the classroom.
It was out of this camaraderie that, in the years following high school, five of those original players made a decision that would shape their futures—they wanted to compete. With a vision of creating something more formal, they established Greenbelt FC, a soccer team that would allow them to take their shared passion to the next level.
The team was soon joined by more players—some former high school teammates and others from neighboring schools, all drawn by the spirit of competition and community that Greenbelt FC fostered. As word spread, Greenbelt FC’s roster began to grow. What started as a small group of friends evolved into a well-organized club that continues to thrive.
Over the past 15 years, Greenbelt FC has become a fixture in the local soccer scene. The club now boasts over 40 members, from different backgrounds and schools, but all united by their love for the game and their commitment to the team. The journey has seen its ups and downs, but through perseverance and teamwork, Greenbelt FC has remained strong.
Most recently, the club celebrated its crowning achievement—winning the Glen Burnie Premier, a testament to the hard work, dedication, and unity of its players. This victory is not just a moment of glory; it’s a reflection of the club’s growth from humble beginnings to an established force in local soccer.
